Though Curt Brill is working more and more spontaneously, still he
is using the human figure as a source of inspiration. The sculptures
are reactions to or outgrowths of a unique combination of the
condition of the materials that he chooses and his energy level and
the energy level of the model on that particular day. He does not
start off with preconceived poses in mind, but instead let that all
unfold as the sculpting develops.
Crut
Brill always begin with quick drawings on brown craft paper using a
carpenter's pencil to draw with. These sketches serve as warm-ups
for both artist and model. These drawings rarely relate directly to
the sculptures being produced that day but rather help to set an
environment for the day's work.
